Welcome ! /woodland/2020/11/08/787/ /woodland/2020/11/08/787/#respond Mon, 09 Nov 2020 00:06:11 +0000 /woodland/?p=787 Welcome to our website!

This school year has been like no other in history. Following new safety protocols and keeping everyone’s safety at the forefront is a daily routine for everyone now.

At Woodland we are keeping up with our commitment to keeping our students safe and still providing an A+ academic learning experience for all students. Daily sanitizing and cleaning of surfaces, floors and materials is helping to keep classes clean and germ free. Students have easily and effortlessly moved into the routine of wearing a mask daily in their classes. Virtual learning is still an opportunity for students to continue their learning. More information and updates can be found on the 㽶ֱ website.

Some activities during the school days have changed to accommodate the new safety routines. We have had our very first virtual Halloween costume parades in each classroom and a virtual Remembrance Day celebration reminding our student of this important day and time. Soon the school will embrace activities and learning around the topics of anti-bullying, and inclusion and how each of our students can commitment to being, the best person they can be and stop the act of bullying.

We are thankful for each day and the learning that is happening in our classrooms. Laughter smiles and learning can be found each day at Woodland Public School.

Stay tuned for more exciting information about our school , our teachers and our students.

We Miss You /woodland/2020/04/08/we-miss-you/ /woodland/2020/04/08/we-miss-you/#respond Wed, 08 Apr 2020 19:50:11 +0000 /woodland/?p=665 Greetings Woodland Lynx Students and Parents!

We hope that everyone is well and taking care of themselves and their families during these unusual times.  As of Monday April 6th, 2020, we have begun the next phase of learning at home for our Elementary students – JK to Grade 6.  You should have started to receive lessons (either via email or Edsby) from your child’s teacher to support them through this phase. Our staff have been working over the last two weeks to find solutions to the many challenges that Covid 19 presents to our schools and our students and their families.  Please know that we do not have all the answers as of yet and we are working diligently at finding the best ways to support all of our students.

We continue to miss you and are hoping that you are feeling better reaching out to your teachers this week. We also know that this situation with Covid-19 may be creating some additional stress for you and your families. Please know we want to continue to support you with your mental health. The following link will provide you with trained people to help. This “check-in” will support students who have previously received counselling at Woodland but also those of you and your families that have new mental health needs and are not connected to a counsellor.

Please go to: /we-are-here-to-help/  and do take care.

As already noted on our Facebook page, we ask that our families go the the Near North District School Board website for the most up to date information regarding the Corona Virus.

Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to email us directly at amanda.meighan@nearnorthschools.ca michelle.passmore@nearnorthschools.ca.

Thank you.
Be well, be safe.

Amanda Meighan, Principal

Michelle Passmore, Acting Vice Principal
