Ïã½¶Ö±²¥ statement on resumption of school sports
Near North District School Board (Ïã½¶Ö±²¥) recognizes that participationÌýin sports is an important part of the school experienceÌýand encouragesÌýa sense of community, promotes physicalÌýhealthÌýand overall well-being.
Ïã½¶Ö±²¥ is pleasedÌýtoÌýresume intramural and inter-school sportsÌýand clubs asÌýoutlined byÌýthe guidanceÌýfrom the Ministry of Education,Ìý.
In addition,ÌýÏã½¶Ö±²¥Ìýschools will resumeÌýparticipationÌýinÌýOFSSA-organized championships and festivals this fall.ÌýWeÌýare inÌýconsultation withÌýthe NorthÌýBay Parry Sound District HealthÌýUnit and our co-terminus school boards toÌýdevelopÌýconsistent healthÌýand safety protocolsÌýthat are in alignment with MinistryÌýofÌýEducation and public health guidance.
Please note practices and seasons may be off to a later start as boards confer and consult. Ïã½¶Ö±²¥ may cancel sports if so advised by public health. The pandemic is causing delays in decision-making that are frustrating to everyone. Because the safety and well-being of staff and students is an Ïã½¶Ö±²¥ priority, the timeframe of announcements reflects the careful consideration of our decisions.Ìý
